We’ve been in business since 1950 serving the surface solution needs of, both, trade professionals and consumers. We endeavour to create products that meet your demanding needs regarding the care and repair of surfaces in your home. From hardwood to leather to laminates to glass… if there is a surface, we do our best to give you professional quality products that are easy to use and offer outstanding results.

Martin Dover incorporates Supreme Bag, an enterprise dedicated to the supply of jute bags.
Supreme Bag becomes Dover Pad and is focused on supplying the Canadian moving industry with quilted pads and related products. We quickly realise that movers damage furniture a lot. Later this decade we add a full line of professional care and repair products to our offering.
Dover Pad broadens its customer base to include more general industry.
Packaging products are added as focus shifts to predominantly industrial customers.
The company continues to grow adding more furniture manufacturers as clients every month.
Dover Pad becomes Doverco Inc. and the finishing and touch-up products division is split off into a new company, Dover Finishing Products Inc. In a strange twist, Dover Pad becomes a brand of Dover Finishing Products, of which you can learn more at www.doverpad.ca.
We create and begin selling Trade SecretTM. The first products were Scratch Removers and Furniture Polish and Cleaner…. which were quickly embraced by consumers.
We do our first televised home shopping spot. Fortunately, no one is injured in our chainsaw demo’s. Our products are selling like hot cakes.
We add Fill Sticks and Touch-Up Systems. Holes everywhere are being filled with unprecedented speed and quality.
The Furniture Restoration System is introduced. We have trouble keeping up with demand. Furniture everywhere is shouting with joy (it’s a beautiful sound) as they have never looked as good.
Adjustments to the industrial side of our business distract us from further Trade Secret product development. Oddly enough, at the same time, many furniture manufacturers decide that China is a much better place to manufacture furniture. Furniture stops lasting as long and requires more Trade Secret care.
We partner with Leather Master SE to bring the internationally recognized and industry-leading Leather Care Products to Canada and the U.S.A. Leather everywhere becomes cleaner, more attractive, longer lasting and squeak-free.
After working with multiple hardwood flooring manufacturers to find a solution to damage, we launch the water-based Crystal Clear Pro Finish, one of very few finishes that adheres to UV cure hardwood and laminate floors. We further expand our line by introducing the Touch-Up System for Floors. Flooring repairmen now have more time to enjoy a cup of coffee.
“Surface solutions” becomes our mantra. As we create new products for you, we promise to do the following: Give you professional products that work on the surfaces in your home. As well, the entire Trade Secret line now complies with VOC regulations across North America (this includes the reformulation of the Scratch Removers, which are now coconut oil based, and work even better than ever).
Trade Secret products are available in every major hardware chain across Canada. New website is launched. Multiple new products are introduced. Staff celebrates 61 years of business by ordering a pizza with 61 ingredients. Major heartburn ensues.
Trade Secret Trio Touch-Up Markers are launched to supplement the Trio Fill Sticks in order to offer a more complete surface repair system.
Trade Secret brand owner, DFP Inc., is acquired by Martin & Associates offering greater product development and logistical synergies to our clientele.
